Wilbert Louis Beck

Sun Prairie-Wilbert Louis Beck, age 82, passed away on Sunday, May 16, 2010 at Oak Park, Madison. He was born on August 16, 1927 in Theresa, WI the son of George & Alvina (Pahl) Beck. He was united in marriage to the former Myra Berndt on May 19, 1951 at Trinity Lutheran Church-Huilsburg, in the town of Herman. Wilbert served his country with the U.S. Army from November 27, 1950 until November 26, 1952. He was a longtime active member of Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church, Sun Prairie. Wilbert was employed at Dairy Equipment Company for over 37 years retiring in 1990. After retiring from DEC, he worked as a greeter at Wal-Mart in Sun Prairie for over 12 years. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing, hunting, vacationing, spending time with family and friends, and enjoyed the great northwoods at his cabin in Minocqua. He is survived by his wife, Myra; his children, Gary (Nancy) Beck, Cheryl (Jim) Jaworski and Cindy (Joe) Dhuey; his grandchildren, Matt (Cynthia) Oren, Mandy (Nick) Oren-Passint, Jeremy Beck, Kevin Beck, David Beck, Jamie Dhuey and Jordyn Dhuey; his sisters, Arline Kuehn, Lucille Benter and Alvira Giese; sister-in-law, Alice Beck; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Wilbert was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers and 2 sisters, and daughter-in-law, Shirley (Motisi) Beck. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 19, 2010 at 11:30 a.m. at Peace Ev. Lutheran Church, 232 Windsor St., Sun Prairie with Rev. Luke Werre officiating. Burial will be held in Sun Prairie Memory Gardens. Visitation times are Tuesday, May 18, 2010 (TONIGHT) at the Cress Funeral Home, Sun Prairie from 5-7:00 p.m. and at the church on Wednesday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service. Memorials would be appreciated to Peace Ev. Lutheran Church or to the American Lung Assoc.
