Middleton - Willa Mae (Billye) Newcomb, age 86, passed away on Friday, May 13, 2011 at the HospiceCare Center in Madison, Wis. She was born on August 6, 1924, in Wichita, Kansas to William and Maggie Sweet. Billye was a graduate of Duncan High School in Duncan, Oklahoma.
Moving to Wichita in 1940, her working career started as an aircraft worker during World War II. After the war, she worked successfully out of her home for more than 15 years while raising three happy children, as well as being a wonderful wife.
Billye is survived by her husband of 64 years, Herman Newcomb, Jr. of Middleton, Wis.; son, Ron Newcomb of Redmond, Wash.; son, Eric (Rick and Mary Jo) Newcomb of Tucson, Ariz.; daughter, Gayla (Rich) Divelbiss of Middleton, Wis.; granddaughter, Rachel (Josh) Knichel of Altoona, Iowa; grandson, Matt Newcomb of Pleasant Hill, Iowa; grandson, Max Divellbiss of Middleton, Wis.; granddaughters, Sydney and Gina Divelbiss of Middleton, Wis.; and great-grandchildren, Elisabeth and Peyton Knichel of Altoona, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Margaret Nance; nephew, Steven Earl Nance; and daughter-in-law, Helen Newcomb.
Billye was active during her life in Wichita, Kansas with square dancing, membership at Health Strategies where she enjoyed endless hours of aqua classes, Grace Presbyterian Church in Wichita, and any social event where she could talk with as many people as possible.

We would like to express our sincerest thanks to both of these organizations for the special care, love, and dignity they gave to Billye in her final stages of life.
