William "Bill" L. McNurlen

Madison – William “Bill” L. McNurlen, age 95, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday October 27, 2024. He was born February 23, 1929, in Richland Center to the late Max and Blanche (Jones) McNurlen. Bill served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War as an Military Police Officer(MP) and played on the U.S. Army basketball team with his brother Bob. He lived in Lone Rock for 30 years where he met and married his wife Edna and later in Madison where he worked for 34 years at Research Products. Bill is an active member of Crosspoint Church of the Nazarene. He enjoyed spending time with his family, telling jokes to make everyone smile, sharing his pictures and reminiscing about the " good old days " and was an active sports fan. Bill especially enjoyed spending time with his wife, they shared an amazing very special love that everyone meeting them could sense the minute you seen the two together. 

Bill is survived by his wife of 63 years Edna; daughter Gladys Smith; granddaughters Tonya Winkler(Josh Lancaster) and Shawn Winkler(Matt O'Donahue); great grandsons Nathaniel and Jonathan; sister Louise Fries and son-in-law Clinton Lombard; and is further survived by nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, stepmother Lillian, son-in-law Ken Smith, 3 brothers Merle, Harold, Robert, 3 sisters Marie, Ellen and Linda. 

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday November 9, 2024, at CROSSPOINT CHURCH OF THE NAZARENE, 5011 Commercial Ave. Madison, WI 53704 with Rev. Isaac Gilmore presiding. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Garden. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the service at the church on Saturday.
