William M. ""Bill"" Erdman

Wausau/Sun Prairie - William M. ""Bill"" Erdman, age 73, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 11, 2011 after a long battle with a rare disease at the HospiceCare Center in Fitchburg. He was born on November 26, 1937 in Pittsburgh, PA the son of Marvin & Alma (Holt) Erdman. Bill was united in marriage with Jeanne Schmidt on April 11, 1964 in Wausau, and they resided in Wausau until 2004 when he and Jeanne moved to Sun Prairie to be closer to their children and grandchildren. He was employed in his family business, Erdman Distributing of Wausau, and later in life as a ginseng grower. He had a lifelong passion for sports; in his younger days as a decorated participant in basketball, tennis, and cross-country, and more recently as a fan of the Packers and Badgers. He had a wonderful sense of humor and a well-known sweet tooth. He will be missed by his beloved family which includes his wife of 47 years, Jeanne of Sun Prairie; his son, Boyd (Val) Erdman, DeForest; his daughter, Shawna (Alfred) Johnson, Sun Prairie; his grandchildren, Bryce & Lauren Erdman and Alfie & Ben Johnson; his sister, Beverly Eifert, Racine; his brothers, Jack (Rose) Erdman, Elkhorn; and Robert (Jeannie) Erdman, Phoenix. Bill was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Richard (Karen) Erdman. A time of gathering and memorial service celebrating his life will be held on Thursday, July 14, 2011 at the Cress Funeral Home, Sun Prairie with Rev. Jon Gertz officiating. The gathering will begin at 10 AM followed by the memorial service at 11 AM. A reception and luncheon will be held following service at Living Water Church, Sun Prairie.
