William Gray

Gray, William T.
Oregon / Fort Worth, TX- William Thurston Gray, age 83 of Oregon, WI, passed away on Wednesday, July 2, 2008 at St. Mary™s Hospital in Madison.  He was born in Newark, Delaware, on March 17, 1925, a son of William and Sarah (Gallaher) Gray.  On October 27, 1945, he was united in marriage to Ozelma Ford at first Baptist Church in Salinas, CA.  William served his country in the Air Force for 32 years, retiring as a Chief Master Sergeant.  William served during WWII, the Korean Conflict, and the Vietnam War.  He was awarded the Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal, Military Merit Award with Oak Clusters, National Defense Service Medal, Campaign and Service Medals, Victory WWII, Army of Occupation WWII, and the Air Force Commendation Medal.  William was an active member of the Fitchburg Singers, Air Force Sergeants Association, the VFW, Reminiscence Writers at the Oregon Senior Center, Meals on Wheels, and RSVP.  He is survived by his daughter, Sharon (James) Hutchins, Stoughton; son, William H. (Laura) Gray, Colorado Springs, CO; beloved friend, Carol Nimlos; 2 grandsons, William H.R. Hutchins and Thomas T. Gray; granddaughter, Virginia Elizabeth Ozelma (Craig) Borgrud; and 2 great granddaughters, Gabriella Ozelma Mae Hutchins and Julia Elizabeth Ozelma Borgrud.  He was preceded in death by his wife Ozelma in 2002.  Memorial services will be held on Monday, July 7, 2008 at 2:00pm at Olson-Holzhzuteer-Cress Funeral Home in Stoughton with the Rev. Cynthia Bacon officiating.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Porchlight, Inc., or to the Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP).
