MADISON - William John “Bill” Kube, age 55, of Madison, died on April 6, 2022, at St. Mary’s Hospital. Complications from diabetes and an infection took him away from us too soon. He will be greatly missed.
He was born August 27, 1966, in Watertown, WI, the son of John and Jacqueline (Hornickel) Kube. He graduated from Watertown High School, and MATC with an associate degree. Bill worked for a number of companies throughout his career, most recently with Gainwell Technologies.
Bill was a kind, generous and loyal person who loved his family, his two cats, and his friends. His sunny disposition allowed him to make friends wherever he went. He loved to laugh and share jokes. He kept in touch with all those whom he cared about either via social media or through get-togethers like a friendly game of cards or cookouts where he would grill brats and simmer them in beer just like his dad did. He liked to bake and was always bringing home new recipes to try. He was a big fan of the Cowboys, the Bears, the Badgers, and the Brewers. He loved to plan trips and to travel to new places, which meant additions to his shot glass collection. Some of those trips also involved paying his respects to some of his favorite TV and movie stars. Some of his favorite characters include all of The Golden Girls and the cast of The Young and The Restless, particularly the characters of Mrs. Chancellor and Victor Newman. Heaven forbid, if you interrupted him while he was watching his “stories”. That was his time to catch up with his favorite characters. In addition, he enjoyed all the Hallmark movies and all those HGTV shows, particularly My Lottery Dream Home. The running joke was after winning the Lottery he was going to move somewhere warm like California and have the host help him find a home. Or he’d move to Mississippi and have the hosts of Home Town find him a house. Often, he left work joking “See you tomorrow unless I win the lottery.” Bill was a longtime member of Bethel Lutheran Church and relied on the Bethel Media Ministry to stay connected when health issues prevented him from being there in person.
Bill is survived by his sister Kathryn “Kathy” Kube, his cats Albert and Zak, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A funeral service will be held at 11am on Saturday, April 30, 2022, at BETHEL LUTHERAN CHURCH, 312 Wisconsin Avenue, Madison. A burial service will be held at 3 pm on Friday, May 6, 2022, at GLENVIEW MEMORIAL GARDENS, W1219 Glenview Avenue, Ixonia, WI.
Bill’s wishes included a celebration cookout with food (probably he meant to add brats) and beer. Details are still being worked out, but the plan is to have a celebration of life on Sunday, June 5, 2022, from 12-3pm, at TOKEN CREEK PARK, Shelter #1, 6200 Williamsburg Way, Deforest, WI, where we can remember Bill and enjoy great food and conversation.
In lieu of flowers or plants, memorials may be given to Bethel Lutheran Church Media Ministry or to the charity of one’s choice.
