William Loofboro

April 1, 1967 — November 16, 2021

William Loofboro, known affectionately as Billy by many of his friends, died on November 16, 2021, after a long battle with drug and alcohol addiction and depression.

He was born on April 1, 1967, the son of Rita Kerrigan Havey and Edwin Loofboro.   He grew up in Wisconsin Dells, graduating from Wisconsin Dells High School in 1985.  He married Deana Marston in 1989 and together they had 3 beautiful children: Ethan, Keenan and Bronte, all of Wisconsin Dells.  Bill was employed for many years in the printing industry.  He adored his children and was very proud of the wonderful adults they grew to be.  Although his up and down struggle with addiction often prevented him from being the father he wanted to be, he never stopped loving them.  He was grateful to Deana for being a wonderful mother and steady presence in their lives.

He resided in Madison the past 20 years of his life.  His easy-going manner and sense of humor was infectious.  Bill made friends easily and had many, he was close with his 3 older siblings who lovingly always referred to him as their “baby brother”.

Bill’s courage in facing the relentlessness of his addiction was remarkable despite many setbacks, some of them devastating.  It would have mattered very much to Bill to be remembered as someone who never gave up and when he was down, always managed to pick himself up and try, try again.

Bill is survived by his 3 children, Bronte, Ethan, and Keenan, his former wife, Deana, sister Linda (Bernie) Micke, of Madison and brothers Larry Loofboro, of Madison and Steve Loofboro of Fort Myers, FL.   He is further survived by other relatives and many friends.   He is preceded in death by his parents and stepfather, George Havey.

There will be a visitation held for Bill on Friday, December 3 at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 3610 Speedway Rd., Madison from 12-1:30 PM.   His funeral service will follow at 1:30 PM.
