William Paape

April 19, 1926 — February 25, 2012

Deerfield- William Charles Paape, age 85, passed away on Saturday, February 25, 2012. He was born in Crete, IL on April 19, 1926 to John H. and Louise Paape Sr. After graduating from Bloom High School in Chicago Heights in 1944, Bill was drafted into the military where he served as a field lineman in the 63rd Infantry Division operating in the European Theater. Upon completion of his tour of duty, Bill returned home and in 1949 he married Barbara Ann Lindhout at Zion Lutheran Church in Crete. He began working for Sears Roebuck and Company in Chicago and in 1965 he transferred to the Madison store; retiring after 33 years. Bill loved fishing, gardening and volunteering at "Twice is Nice." He was a faithful member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Marshall. He is survived by his wife, Barbara; sons, Mark, Rich (Sue), Kurt (Margaret), Dan (Kris) and Lance (Debby); 16 grandchildren; five great grandchildren; his sister, Mary (Dave) Arnold; and numerous nieces and nephews. Bill was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, John Paape Jr. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, March 1, 2012 at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, 204 Deerfield Road, Marshall, with Rev. Mark Schoeneck officiating. Burial, with full Military honors, will follow in St. John's Cemetery in Newville. Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM until the time of services at church Thursday. The family wishes to offer a special thank you to all of the friends and neighbors who watched over Bill and Barb while they were in Deerfield. The highest duty for a husband and father is to reflect Christ to his family; from all of us we say, "Well done."
