Winifred Marie (Warne) Parent, age 91 of Madison, Wisconsin passed away on Sunday May 8, 2011. She was born December 6, 1919 in Madison, Wisconsin, the daughter of Hildegard Tressa Yonker and Ross Elmer Warne.
A graduate of Madison West High School, Winn attended the University of Wisconsin through her junior year majoring in Physical Education. She married Robert John Parent on December 27, 1941 in Madison Wisconsin. Winn belonged to several bridge clubs and craft clubs. A consummate homemaker, Winn left her children with a legacy of family recipes, a love of the out of doors, and the memories of many waterfalls. She was an avid camper, backpacker, and world traveler. Winn enjoyed sewing, crafts, gardening, canning. Winn was a fine photographer. She loved sing-a-longs, ball room dancing, and sunsets.
Winn is survived by her daughters Patricia A. Callaway, Barbara K. Parent (Celeste E. Klein), son John (Jack) R. Parent (Barbara J.), and daughter-in-law Molly Putzier. Also survived by her grandchildren, Kristina M. Storage, John G. Barnes (Tammy), Katherine M. Parent, Anna C. Perkins (William), Elizabeth M. Putzier-Parent, Dorothy R. Putzier-Parent, Jonathan R. Parent, and great grandchildren, Michelle M. Storage, Kimberly A. Storage, (J. Colin Barnes, Ian Barnes, and William (Liam) Perkins II. Siblings Ross, Margery Dreher, and Evans. Many nieces and nephews
Winn was preceded in death by her parents, husband Robert J. Parent, son Thomas R. Parent, and brothers Dale and Robert.
Funeral Services will be held at the chapel at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery, 2705 Regent St. in Madison at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, May 13, 2011
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in care of the family, to be divided among Mom's favorite charities.
