Xue Xin Liu

December 12, 1923 – April 27, 2023

Xue Xin Liu, age 99, of Verona, passed away peacefully in the home on Thursday, April 27th, 2023, surrounded by family. He was born December 12th, 1923, in Shanghai, China, the son of Yu Quan Liu (father) and Mei Li (mother). Xue Xin met his wife Shu Ying Huang and married on July 12th, 1959, in Shanghai and they were together ever since. Xue Xin was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather.

Xue Xin graduated from University of Shanghai in 1945. He worked 6 months at Department of Revenue in Zhenjiang and transferred to Department of Revenue in Shanghai in 1946. After cultural revolution, he worked at Shanghai Automotive Power Metallurgy Co. During that time, he was a teacher who taught English, as well as teaching "Quality Control", Logistics, and Statistics. He retired in 1985.

In 1994, Xue Xin immigrated to the US with his wife. He enjoyed a quiet life with his family in Madison, WI from then on. He enjoyed to helping his neighbors make phone calls, explain the letters, and communicate with facility for those who don’t speak English. His greatest joy was meeting and socializing with people, and loved reading literature and history, Chinese calligraphy, Chinese Opera, Chinese tea. Xue Xin was an avid connoisseur of Chinese cuisine (and was an exceptional cook as well!)

Xue Xin is survived by his wife, Shu-Ying Huang, daughter Betty Lu with granddaughter Grace Lu and daughter Rebecca Lu, with grandson Isaac Lu.

A visitation will be hold at 10:00 AM to 10:30 AM on Saturday, May 6, 2023, at Cress Center, 6021 University Ave, Madison, WI 53705.

The memorial service will hold at 10:45 AM at Asbury United Methodist Church, 6101 University Avenue, Madison, WI 53705.

Burial will follow at 1:30 PM at Middleton Cremation Association.
